Tummy Tuck in San Diego
Stuart B. Kincaid, MD, FACS San Diego, CA
Who is a good candidate for an abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck? Usually women who have a healthy diet and maintain a steady exercise program but still suffer from excess skin and a protruding abdomen are often good candidates for a tummy tuck. A tummy tuck is a major surgical procedure designed to eliminate excess skin and fat from the lower and middle abdomen, and to tighten the muscles of the abdomen wall. The procedure can dramatically slim down a protruding abdomen and remove the excess folds and fatty accumulation as a result of pregnancy or weight loss. Tummy tuck flattens the bulging area of skin and fat below and around the belly button and removes some of the excess to trim your figure.
Special techniques create a sexy belly button and attractive contour. Recovery time is weeks. Many individuals combine tummy tuck with other body contouring procedures such as breast augmentation, breast lift, and/or liposuction. Abdominoplasty involves general anesthesia and can be performed in about three hours. To hide the incision, the cut is made low on the abdomen. The incision can be hidden by even the most revealing swimwear or clothing. Once the excess skin and fat are removed, internal ligaments are tightened and firmed. Though the same incision, protruding lower ribs can be contoured or breast implants can be placed if desired. Other surgeries like liposuction or hysterectomy can be performed at this time as well.

At the heart of Stuart B Kincaid MD, FACS practice philosophy is the belief that plastic surgery is a highly specialized area of medicine dealing with the mind and body. The goal of cosmetic plastic surgery should be to bring one's self-image and body-image into better balance; and by so doing, improve one's self-esteem.
The success of your elective cosmetic surgery procedure is greatly dependent upon the plastic surgeon you choose. Each aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery patient has his or her unique reason for pursuing surgery, and it is a very personal one. Some patients are motivated to alter an undesirable physical feature either inherited or acquired, while others simply want to refresh features that have aged over time. My approach to you, the patient, is a highly personalized one. I want to spend ample time with you to fully address your concerns and establish trust in me and the office staff. My initial consultation with you and subsequent visits will focus on your concerns and expectations. I will make every effort to lend a sensitive ear to your needs. I will then carefully assess, in a private professional manner, those physical features bothersome to you. Together we will proceed in developing a mutually agreed upon treatment plan. It is imperative that realistic goals and expectations be established prior to surgery. It has been my experience that a highly self-motivated, well-informed and realistic cosmetic patient is generally a pleased patient. My commitment is to deliver exceptional cosmetic plastic surgery results that exceed expectations in a safe and comfortable environment and to have a happy, satisfied patient whenever possible. It is important to keep in mind that results may vary from patient to patient given the uniqueness of each individual's physical characteristics and needs. This surgery is offered at affordable prices with payment options that will accommodate most patients' budgets. My staff and I fully understand that exceptional plastic surgery requires more than board certification alone. Other ingredients must include artistry, attention to detail, compassion, effective communication, self-discipline, experience, integrity, respect for privacy, skillful and delicate application of surgical techniques, natural appearing results, and extensive, ongoing subspecialty training in the field of aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery. As a seasoned surgeon, with over nineteen years experience in plastic surgery; I firmly believe that your surgical result is not an end in itself, but rather a means to an end-that is to say, to help you achieve a happy, healthy and productive life. To complement your cosmetic surgery result, our office encourages lifestyle changes when necessary, including proper nutrition, regular and age appropriate exercise, stress reduction and skin care. My staff and I welcome an ongoing relationship in helping you attain your lifelong best image!
